What brought you to Kevel?

I’m completely new to the world of ad tech -- I actually come from a real estate and lending background. But since my very first interview here, I was hooked by Kevel’s mission and the people at this job; it was definitely one of the most natural, and human, hiring experiences I’ve been a part of!

What part of your job and the company are you most passionate about?

I’ve always loved writing -- as a kid I’d fill up entire notebooks with wild stories about absolutely nothing. These days I still love storytelling, but more so to educate. That’s the part of my job I love the most: breaking intimidating information down into digestible and accessible pieces. The nature of my role at Kevel is the perfect excuse to meet new people and learn about things I otherwise would have no insight on.

What is unique about working for Kevel?

The most unique thing about Kevel is the connectedness I feel with my team and the company, despite being fully remote. I’ve worked in both online and offline environments and was frankly, nervous about having little in-person interaction. But the people team does an amazing job onboarding and hosting fun events to encourage getting to know other Kevelers -- and my team is a blast. It’s corny, but I definitely think the people are the best part of working at Kevel.

What is one element of your role that you think would surprise people?

I think it’d surprise people how much of my job involves collaboration. As an extrovert, I love it, but when you hear “writer” it’s easy to picture someone holed up typing away. That is a big part of it, don’t get me wrong, but I still have plenty of opportunities to work with my team, interview interesting people, and get out there.

Which company value resonates with you the most and why?

Of Kevel’s core values, I really resonate with “Be Open.” A lot of companies preach openness and the ability to bring your whole self to work, but working at Kevel feels like the first time I’ve ever really experienced such an environment. Leadership is accessible and transparent and that’s just how it is. It’s great.

Holly and a big LOVE sign

What part of our mission do you connect with?

Seeing how Kevel fills a market gap and allows brands to build something great, without forfeiting anything to tech giants, is always really cool to see. I’ve written a lot of success stories and have interviewed plenty of Kevel customers by now, and it’s always rewarding to see the impact our APIs provide.

How would you describe the culture at Kevel?

I’d say the culture is extremely lively. Being a remote company, I have teammates across the globe, so I always get to hear about exciting holidays or new foods and places. Everyone is truly so inviting and down-to-earth. We get our work done, but have a good time, too.

What is something surprising that not many people know about you?

Something surprising about me is that I wouldn’t be able to run for U.S. president -- not that I’d want to. I was born in South Korea and am a part of the adoptee community!

What are some of your favorite things you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work I love walking and playing with my mini poodle, Rick. He’s a twenty pound rescue and just 10 months old -- I’m obsessed with him.

I’m also a huge roller coaster enthusiast and I love anything to do with being outdoors -- we go camping every summer on Lake Michigan and I’ve tandem biked around Mackinac Island!

If you weren’t in this career, what could you see yourself doing?

If I wasn’t a writer, I’d have loved to try my hand at acting. It’s far-fetched but I always loved the theater classes I took in school -- it’d be rad to be in a random commercial or something, wouldn’t it?

What is something you have always wanted to try or learn?

I’ve always wanted to go skydiving -- it’s still on my bucket list! I’m a big adrenaline junkie so I’m sure I’ll make it happen some day.
